About WebLodges

Choosing a website builder is harder than it looks. Every product page promises a beautiful site in minutes, AI features appear in every builder at once, and the real differences, such as how the editor feels after a month, whether you can leave and who maintains what, only show up after you have put work in. We built WebLodges to give a plain first view: what each tool does, which kind of site it suits, and what to check before you commit.

The site is for the people who make and run websites, such as a small business owner, a freelancer, a designer or a writer, more than for the companies selling to them. We keep descriptions short and factual, mark what we couldn't confirm, and leave out scores we would have to make up. Tool makers can submit or claim a listing for free, and paid placements are always labeled.

We also try to say what each kind of tool is weak at, because that is where people building their first site are most often surprised.

A tool is listed once we have confirmed that its official site is live and that it does what our description says. Each tool sits in the one category that fits its main job, even when it covers several. We don't publish scores, rankings or prices, because prices change often and a score would be our opinion presented as a fact. Tools we couldn't confirm stay off the site until we can.

Website builders change their plans and features often. Before you build a site you depend on, check the current terms on the official site, especially what happens to your pages and domain if you cancel.
